Protecting waterways is vital

Rain Advisory Committee Volunteers continued to collect 30 monthly samples from 2021 to 2024, which confirmed the continued exceedance of bacteria, nutrients, pesticides, and low-dissolved oxygen.

“The data has been uploaded to the California Environmental Data Exchange, “ he said. “It will be examined during the Water Board’s next review cycle.”

He said funding for laboratory testing happened in June 2024, and they do not have current reportable results.

 

“The Regional Water Board will be able to create TMDLs (Total Maximum Daily Loads) to report,” he said. “The daily load allocations for each pollutant and responsible party.”

Each responsible party will report on the BMPs (Best Management Practices) implemented, and Carter stated that they will submit water samples four times per year.
