Puppies wait for heroes

Oxnard—It was a fundraiser for a great cause on Sunday, March 16, as heroes packed Grey Cellars for its annual Puppies and Pino event benefitting the Canine Adoption and Rescue League (C.A.R.L.).

A large crowd spent the day enjoying great wine and meeting fur babies; some brought home their new best friend.

Grace Cunningham is C.A.R.L. president and is based out of Santa Paula.

“Our Dogs not being fostered are at the Sanctuary,” she said. “Stay Cellars is wonderful; they had a rescue Dog, Tawni, who passed away. In Tawni’s honor, they’re doing Pinot and Puppies. This is their third annual.”

All the proceeds go to C.A.R.L.

“We have seven Dogs today and 60 in the program,” she said. Some are in foster homes, and some are at the Kennel.”

She knew her kids wanted a Dog after buying a home, and they went to Ventura County Rescue Services.

“I knew I wanted a rescue Dog,” she said. “We adopted a Black Lab German Shepard Mix named Jaxson.

 

She decided working at C.A.R.L. was the right choice for her.
