Puzzle Tourney is competitive fun

Ventura--Puzzle enthusiasts gathered en force at Casssie’s Cats and Kittens on March 25, as the Puzzle Fundraiser tested strategies, teamwork, and fun while the Cats looked on with curiosity.

THE groups each attacked the Puzzles with different strategies, like sorting colors, assembling Puzzle borders, and using teamwork to move forward.

Cassie’s Cats and Kittens President and Founder Jennifer Thompson said the last tourney featured 750-piece Puzzles, but she changed it to 500-piece Puzzles for the fundraiser.

“I go online and try to find Puzzles that have Cats in them but are not full price,” she said. “The puzzles I have today cost about $7 each.”

She said participants paid $25, with all the money benefitting the Cat Lounge.

“Our basic needs, paying the rent, utilities, property insurance, food, and litter, those are constant costs for us,” she said. “What has changed is when we have more support from the community, we can occasionally take on a Cat who might need more help.”

 

Jennifer said she took Princess in from the Camarillo shelter because she had enough funding from her supporters to pay thousands of dollars for Princess’ dental work.

“She gets a monthly injection to help with her arthritis,”…
