Riverpark CFD meeting informs the public

Oxnard-- The Riverpark Com­munity Facilities District #5 (CFD) held its budget discussion Thursday, May 26, which included a discussion with the community.

City Manager Alex Nguyen led the discussion off and asked how many people knew what a Mello- Roos District was.

A Mello-Roos District “finances local public facilities and provides funding for public services. A CFD can fund public improvements with a useful life of at least five years, such as public infrastructure, parks, recreation, and open space facilities, school facilities, libraries, and child care facilities. CFDs can fund ongoing services like police and fire protection, parks, parkways, open space maintenance, flood and storm protection.”

Special Districts Manager Eric Storrie recapped some of the discussions the CFD had so far and said one important feature of special districts is rebuilding relationships and educating and informing the community on the housing alliance.
