Port Hueneme--The special City Council meeting regarding the upcoming fiscal budget continues with Fiscal Year 23-24 salaries and benefits for 138 full-time positions, in which the City projects $18.2107 million, which is 68 percent of the general fund revenue.
“These numbers in the $18 million include all the adjustments from the recently signed agreements,” Finance Director Lupe Acero said. “There is the cost of living adjustment, four percent, and five percent for benefits for SEIU/MGT, and POA.”
She said unfilled positions were budgeted for the entire fiscal year, so unfilled positions are funded for the entire fiscal year.
“Those positions are not expected to be filled for the entire year, so we adjusted the budget for those months,” Acero said. “If I have a position and I know I am not going to fill it for the first two months of the next year, I adjusted it by those two months. That’s really helping because when you look at the salaries and benefits increase of 1.4 percent, the bottom line is still pretty flat for this year, and that’s because of a lot of conscientious decisions.”
