Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, on Tuesday, January 13, unanimously elected Jeff Gorell its new Chair and Vianey Lopez as its new Vice Chair and County Governing Special Districts for 2026.
Supervisor Matt LaVere nominated Gorell to serve as Chair, and Lopez to serve as Vice Chair.
“It will be my honor to serve,” Gorell said. “On behalf of the residents of the second district, I’m excited at the opportunity to lead this board, and to represent our County.”
The crowd gave the new leadership a rousing reception. Gorell said outgoing Chair Janice Parvin filled big shoes.
“You were solid as a rock for us for the last year,” Gorell said. “There were some easy days, some challenging days, but you were as cool as a cucumber as always, and none of us were surprised at that, because we know that you served for so many years, leading the City of Moorpark as Mayor, and chairing so many meetings, that it’s second nature to you to do this. We’re grateful for your effort, time, and extra effort that goes into serving as Chair.”
