Ventura-- The Board of Supervisors, Tuesday, February 1, heard a presentation from the Ventura County Civic Alliance about the 2021 State of the Region.
ALLIANCE Vice-Chair David Marron presented the report to the supervisors, and he said that Ventura County continues to get older.
“In 2013, we were at 36.6, and we’re up to 38.1 (median age) in 2019,” he said. “We include the numbers in each city of people who are over 65 and under 18.”
He said agriculture continues to be strong in the county, but it has plateaued.
“The trend of Democrats is slightly increasing, but no party preference is the one that has had the largest increase over the years,” he said. “It’s come at the expense of the Republicans.”
He noted that only Simi Valley has a majority of Republicans.
“With the wages in Ventura County, the non-profits had about $373 million of wages in 2019 overall and about $19 billion in overall wages for the county, including the government,” he said. “This does not include the non-profit hospitals like CMH and others because they distort the non-profit world a little bit.”
