Ventura County Excels at Removing Fire Waste

Ventura—The Fire Waste Removal story continues with Resource Management Agency RMA Technical Services Manager Sean Duffy saying weekly inspections are focused on fire debris.

“We have been working with each other to ensure that any complaints we receive and any documents are being shared,” he said. “Complaints we receive aren’t taken lightly and shared. This is not just for the Mountain Fire, but the Palisades and Eaton Fires.”

At the peak, he said the amount of fire debris deposited into the Simi Valley Landfill at the end of April and early May was close to 25,000 tons.

“I think we hit 25,000 tons one day,” he said. “It’s very common that they were receiving 23,000-25,000 tons of debris from Los Angeles County.”

A graph displayed goes through June 8, and he said they were down to approximately 5,000 tons per day of fire debris from Los Angeles County.

Supervisor Janice Parvin said she’s called Duffy’s staff to ask questions.
