Wilson Senior Center: Happy & thriving

Oxnard—The Wilson Senior Center’s Featured Seniors in January, including the pool players who enjoy a lifelong friendship daily and the kitchen staff who keep everyone fed and happy.

THE group enjoys a close extended family, which means games like pool, Loteriá, dominos, and plenty of word search games, while others spend their time knitting, crocheting, and just enjoying each other’s company.

The group enjoys excellent activities, including walks around Wilson Park, chairs, and active aerobics, with the help of Ventura County.

The Pool Players

Pool Player Armando Lopez, “aka Antonio Banderas,” started playing pool at the Wilson Senior Center about 10 years ago.

“We have been friends since high school, and we do charitable events,” he said. “We raise money for people who are needy. We did toys for low-income families this past Christmas.”

 

The friends used to get together for breakfast and still do and extend their visit to the Wilson Senior Center.

“We love the environment here,” he said. “The Staff is wonderful, and it’s a nice place to spend the greater part of half a day and see each other,” he said.
