Oxnard-- The City of Oxnard’s redistricting process continued with a special meeting Saturday, January 22, as the council reviewed the submitted maps.
ASSISTANT City Attorney Ken Rozell told the council the meeting is the fifth regarding redistricting and then turned the meeting over to Kristen Parks from National Demographics Corporation (NDC) for the presentation.
Parks said NDC had not received any additional maps since the last meeting. The current map has a significant population deviation.
The council received three maps that were presented by the public and three maps created by NDC.
After the public maps were submitted, Rozell said the city received an additional map submitted by Planning Commission Chairman Daniel Chavez Junior.
“This is also a map that had some minor changes as well, and I would ask Deputy City Attorney Jason Zaragoza to pull up that map at the end so we could also discuss and have that map available,” Rozell said.
Councilman Oscar Madrigal said he was on the website to submit maps, and he submitted a map Tuesday, January 18, and Manuel Herrera submitted a map on Friday, January 21.
Parks said it’s always helpful to have additional maps.
